KELLY VALVE/DRILLPIPE SAFETY VALVE
The Griffith • Vector drill pipe safety valve/kelly valve is a full opening
valve that provides positive pressure control of the fluids in the drill
string. The Griffith • Vector valve seals in both directions with metal to
metal seals. Available in 10,000 psi working pressure as standard,
15,000 psi working pressure is available in certain sizes upon request.
These valves can be used as a drill pipe safety valve or upper kelly
valve to control blowout pressures, or as a lower kelly valve to prevent
loss of drilling fluid when the kelly is disconnected. Griffith is a licensed
manufacturer of kelly valves under API Spec.7. With the exception of
the standard body, all components are manufactured from materials
meeting the requirements of the National Association of Corrosion
Engineers (NACE) Standard MR0175 “Metallic Material Requirements,
Sulfide Stress Cracking Resistant Materials for Oilfield Equipment”.
The valve uses a hexagon socket on the operating stem and has
positive stops in the open and closed positions.

TUBING SAFETY VALVE
Griffith • Vector tubing safety valves are designed for use during well
servicing and workover operations.
The valve is designed and manufactured from materials which meet
or exceed the requirements of the American Petroleum Institute and
the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Standard
MR0175 “Material Requirements, Sulfide Stress Cracking Resistant
Metallic Materials for Oilfield Equipment”.
DESIGN FEATURES
• Increased wall thickness to provide greater support and
surface for operating stem.
• Improved operating stem design with dual seal
arrangement and positive 90° stops.
• Oversized necks, top and bottom, to provide wear area for
tong or wrench.
• Metal to metal positive seal on ball.
• Available in 10,000 psi W.P. as standard.
The above features combine to provide the user with a valve that
will be dependable, long lasting and simple to service.
Premium tubular connections, high pressure ratings and sizes not
listed are also available upon customer request.
