Handling Tools 48 National Oilwell’s broad line of handling tool equipment includes safety clamps, drill collar slips, casing slips, drill pipe slips, tubing slips, slip-type elevators, tubing elevators, tubing tongs, bottleneck elevators, casing elevators, spiders, casing bowls, and manual tongs. National Oilwell Elevators are manufactured to API specification 8A. 8A elevators are delivered with a Letter of Conformity, Certificate of Load Test, and a Certificate of MPI Testing. Various configurations include bottleneck, single joint and square shoulder for casing, tubing and drill collars. Elevators to API-8C are available upon request. National Oilwell Slips are designed for API-4 tapered bowls with an expanded back support area compared to competitor’s slips and provide a greater overall insert contact with tubulars. The 25° angle dovetail slot and insert design gives longer service life and mini- mizes insert loss. Configurations include drill collar, casing, small bowl slips Type B, and XL drill pipe slips. Casing slips for sizes 95/8- 20for API-3 tapered bowls are also available. National Oilwell Safety Clamps are an essential tool for handling drill collars and any tubular goods with flush joints or low profile shoulders. Removable segments allow for adjustment of the National Oilwell Safety Clamp to handle pipe sizes from 11/8"   to 22". National Oilwell Manual tongs are offered in torque ranges from the lightweight small 16,000 ft/lb “SLF” to the larger and more rugged 100,000 ft/lb “SDD” and are completely interchangeable with other major manufacturer’s tongs. Each tong features tough, heavy-duty design with heat-treated hinge pins and long-lasting “stagger tooth” tong dies.
