We understand how important safety is to ALL of our customers and address this important issue in several ways. First, we build safety into our products by design. This means that you will find guards on our equipment and interlocking devices where appropriate. Secondly, we produce products and solutions designed to solve safety problems by either protecting workers (Safety Brick), or by automating dangerous and time-consuming processes (Starracker, Iron Roughneck). Finally, we focus on safe work environments internally.

Each National Oilwell Varco facility has a functioning HS&E (Health, Safety, and Environment) Program in place in compliance with the relevant state, federal and provincial regulations for the geographical area in which it operates. These HS&E Programs address health, safety and environmental issues relevant to each facility and also contain drug and alcohol policies. Project specific HS&E requirements can be incorporated into these existing programs along with monthly or bi-weekly HS&E activities reporting.

NOV delegates responsibility for HS&E to all levels of the organization. Managers are responsible for ensuring work areas are safe and are responsible for hazard recognition and enforcement of all HS&E standards. Supervisors are responsible for the daily enforcement of standards, accident investigation and workplace assessments. National Oilwell Varco has 17 Safety Coordinators who act as an area knowledge resource and perform periodic compliance checks on each location. Each employee is responsible for ensuring their personal safety as well as counseling with fellow employees when they see unsafe acts.

Our facilities undergo rigorous inspections and adhere to all pertinent safety and environmental precautions. NOV has ISO Certifications at numerous facilities and even has full time safety personnel at required locations to ensure compliance with all necessary measures.
