Pipe Yard Asset Management and Tracking
Tracking and managing pipe has not been an easy task. Serial numbers stenciled into the tool joint might give some idea of the age and origin of a joint, but only if the information is readily available. The SensiOn System takes management of fleet spares and tracking to a whole new level.
Location Maps
The first task is to know where your pipe is at all times. On the Locations page of the website all of your pipe yards can be viewed in individual interactive maps. The birds-eye-view interactive map of each pipe yard is created by NOV professionals, in partnership with the customer. Clickable regions can be customized for each individual storage facility according to current practices of spare pipe management. Mouse-over each region and the current number of racks and joints in the region is displayed for your view. Click on the region to get the “zoomed-in” view of the region.
Rack-Level and Joint-Level Granularity
Each region of the interactive map has a “zoomed-in” view to display the storage racks in the particular region. Mouse-over each storage rack and the current number of joints in the rack is displayed for your view. Click on the rack and a grid-view of data showing parameters relevant for each individual joint is displayed below the map.
Pipe Yard Handheld Computer
The Motorola Symbol 9090 allows workers to associate spare pipe with the proper storage rack. Scanning a joint to look-up parameters pertinent to that joint is also possible.
Tagged Storage Rack
A 2D barcode specially designed for outdoor use is attached to each storage rack in your pipe yard. Workers scan the rack, and then scan all joints on the rack to associate them with this particular storage rack. The sync with the server is handled over the internet in real-time if Wi-Fi is available in the yard. If not, the data is retained on the handheld and synced once the handheld is cradled.
