NOV Hydra Rig Canada celebrated the official grand opening of its new state of the art assembly and engineering facility in November. This marks the final consolidation of its Canadian operations into one central location in Calgary, Alberta.
This new assembly engineering and warehouse facility has 30,000 square feet of work space and houses approximately 60 mechanics, electricians, millwrights and 25 office staff members. The new shop contains 15 bays and is able accommodate 12, CT or N2 units at one time. Pre-merger, the NOV Hydra Rig Canada operations were split between two separate facilities at opposite ends of the city.
About 200 guests attended the grand opening that was complete with great food and music. All guests had the opportunity to tour the facility and get a firsthand look at interactive displays of NOV Hydra Rig technology.
NOV Hydra Rig Canada now has three facilities at one location; a fabrication building, a paint/sandblasting building and the new assembly/engineering shop. The combined facilities sit on seven acres of land has a combined total of 90,000 square feet of work space for up to 250 employees.
General Manager Tom Hewitt says, “This is a very special day for all of us at NOV Hydra Rig Canada. This is the end of a journey that began in March 2005. We are very proud of our beautiful new facility and we look forward to many productive and enjoyable years ahead.”
