Wireline Installation
The inclusion of an electric cable inside a coiled tubing string has advanced the development of a new generation of coiled tubing applications, allowing many procedures previously performed by separate electric lines to be enhanced through the use of cable equipped coiled tubing strings.

For wireline operations, the installation of a standard cable is required. For most logging services only a mono-cable is needed, but for many other wireline operations, such as formation evaluation logs, formation micro-scanners and video cameras, the use of multi-conductor and coaxial cables are required.
Installation of cable can be accomplished by two methods. The wireline may be pumped through the coiled tubing while the tubing is in the spooled configuration or pulled through while the coiled tubing is being manufactured.
Regardless of the installation method employed, it is important to ensure that sufficient slack is allowed to prevent the wireline from coming under tension during downhole operations. In the case of the pull-though method, a procedure to pump slack into the coiled tubing has been developed. After either procedure is completed, Quality Tubing NOV performs tests to ensure the cable's electrical continuity and insulation integrity.
