NOV Quality Tubing's (QT) QT-800® was developed to answer the need for a higher yield strength, higher tensile strength coiled tubing product than QT-700®. As coiled tubing applications have extended to deeper and higher pressure wells, QT-800® was developed to offer increased axial load, cycle life and reduced ovality growth required for the more demanding applications, while maintaining hardness below HRC 22.
QT-800® meets and exceeds the manufacturing criteria of CT-80 in API RP 5C7 (Recommended Practice for Coiled Tubing Operations in Oil and Gas Well Services) and may be classed as such.
The material presently used to manufacture QT-800® coiled tubing is a modification of ASTM A-606 Type 4 high strength low alloy (HSLA) steel, which is resistant to corrosion. The product specification is given below.
For the appropriate work-string sizes, QT-800® can be routinely ordered as a TRUE-TAPER® string, a conventionally tapered string, a FLASH-FREE® string, or as a string with an electric wireline or capillary tube installed.
QT-800® material supplied with a certified tube-to-tube weld is certified as QT-80™, and if this meets the requirements of API RP 5C7 (Recommended practice for Coiled Tubing Operations in Oil and Gas Well Services), can also be certified as CT-80.
