Slip-Proof® Drill Pipe is a NOV Grant Prideco patented product designed to improve the fatigue life of drill pipe by reducing the effect of slip damage. The pipe is manufactured with a thick-wall cross-section tube welded between the box tool joint and the upset drill pipe tube. The thick-wall section has the same OD and ID as the drill pipe upset and the tool joint weldneck. The thicker section is approximately 48 inches long and has minimum yield strength of 120,000 psi.
