NOV® Tuboscope® restores worn tool joints on drill pipe, drill collars and Hevi-Wate® drill pipe to their original specifications. Rebuilding costs are typically 40-60 percent lower than the cost of new pipe.
The rebuild process includes:
- Hardband removal
- Preheating to a minimum of 350ºF
- Rebuilding tool joint 1/8-inch larger than finished specification
- Stress relief – 1,100ºF for 65-85 minutes, depending on product
- Turning the OD of tool joint to final specification
- Inspecting rebuilt joint, including hardness, dimensions, and under black light
- Threading box and pin connections
- Thread inspections
