FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

National Oilwell Varco is looking for leaders who readily accept challenges and consistently deliver results. Successful candidates will be excited about what they do and open to change, continually challenging themselves and others to improve. Candidates must be able to multi-task, must be confident, and should have exceptional values, a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. Next Generation employees are selected because they will add value to National Oilwell Varco and its customers. The ability to work in a team is paramount to success at National Oilwell Varco.

The ideal candidates will posses competitive GPA’s in a business, liberal arts, communication or engineering program. International experience and foreign language skills are strongly encouraged.

When does the program start?
A program is started every January and every July.

Who can apply for the program?
Anyone with only a Bachelor’s degree. A class typically consists of approximately half engineers and half non-engineers.

Are people with Master’s degrees eligible for the program?
No. The Next Gen program is only designed for Bachelor’s degrees.

Are you guaranteed a position at the end of the program?
Permanent positions are given based upon performance during the Next Generation program.

Do you get to choose your rotations?
No. Rotations are assigned based on a combination of your skills, interests, background and the needs of our business units.
However, unlike most rotational programs, your rotations are customized specifically to you – no two people will have the same four rotations.
