Offshore wind if a zero-fuel-cost energy source that will play a critical role in decarbonizing the power and industrial sectors. Winds are stronger and more consistent offshore, so turbines – whether fixed to the seabed or floating – generate more electricity at high-capacity factors. Since the first wind turbine was installed in Denmark in 1991, offshore wind has matured into a rapidly growing global industry.
