In April 2025, the Seaway Ventus vessel was engaged in the installation of monopile foundations for the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm, located in the North Sea off the UK coast. This project, developed by ScottishPower Renewables, is a significant undertaking within the Iberdrola group, aiming to generate 1.4 GW of renewable energy – enough to power over 1.3 million homes.

The Seaway Ventus, a jack-up installation vessel operated by Seaway7, commenced offshore construction activities at the beginning of April 2025. The vessel successfully installed the first of 95 monopile foundations, each designed to support Siemens Gamesa 14.7 MW turbines. Notably, the initial monopile installed measured 83.89 meters in height, 10.6 meters in diameter, and weighed 1,800 tonnes, setting a new record as the largest monopile installed from a jack-up vessel in European waters. The installation campaign is expected to continue into early 2026, encompassing the placement of all monopiles and transition pieces.

For the Seaway Ventus, the challenge was clear: safely jacking up on complex soil conditions to install the very first monopile of the campaign. A high-stakes task with little room for error. Stability is everything in such operations, and the crew knew that even minor uncertainties could have major consequences. That’s where the GustoMSC digital support system came into play.

“I had the chance to observe how the system continuously monitored the jacking process, feeding real-time data to the operators and guiding their decisions step by step. What struck me was not only the precision of the tool, but also the way it fostered trust between the digital interface and the human team – turning a moment of engineering tension into a controlled, confident operation.
