NOV awarded two OTC Spotlight on New Technology Awards

We are excited to announce that our PowerBlade™ energy recovery system and SWIT™ subsea low sulphate and low salinity plant are recipients of the OTC Spotlight on New Technology Award.

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Spotlight on New Technology Award recognizes companies that have created the latest and most advanced technologies within the oil and gas industry. Each technology nominated is considered for the awards based on five criteria—newness to the market, innovation, proven success, broad industry interest, and significant impact to the industry.

Two NOV technologies were chosen as 2020 OTC Spotlight on New Technology Award recipients.

PowerBlade™ energy recovery system

Our PowerBlade™ system is an energy storing and regeneration unit that receives and provides energy based on operational needs. This allows the rig to make use of the energy regenerated in a heave compensation or tripping operation instead of dissipating it through boiling water, thereby reducing fuel consumption, improving the environmental footprint, and boosting equipment performance.

SWIT™ subsea low sulphate and low salinity plant

The SWIT™ is the world’s first full-scale subsea water treatment process system including sulphate removal or low salinity application, designed for long-term continuous operation at the seabed for water injection, serving IOR and EOR purposes. By employing unique, proprietary technology in combination with process simplifications in this configuration, the system will be able to operate for more than 30-months maintenance free.
